(Carson City, NV) — Members of Nevada legislative money committees have begun a review of Gov. Brian Sandoval’s $6.5 billion general fund budget proposal.
The Legislative Commission’s Budget Subcommittee begins hearings Wednesday in Carson City. The panel encompasses members of the Assembly Ways and Means and Senate Finance committees.
Lawmakers on Wednesday will get a general overview of the governor’s budget. That will be followed by briefing on capital improvement projects and budget proposals for K-12 schools and the Department of Education.
Preliminary budget hearings on various state agencies continue through next week. The 2013 Nevada Legislature convenes Feb. 4 for a 120-day session.
